Dragon City project's construction on track in Bahrain

MANAMA, September 22, 2014

Urban developer Diyar Al Muharraq has completed the foundation work on the Dragon Mall and Dining Street in Dragon City, in Bahrain.

Progress of construction work on the project, which commenced on May 15, has been reported by Nass Contracting to equate to 21 per cent of the total, said the Gulf Daily News (GDN), our sister publication.

The foundations of both the mall and the dining street have been laid with the completion of all works due by June next year.

"We are all about precision and promptness and with Nass Contracting working meticulously to complete the project, we are well on track to achieving completion on target," Diyar Al Muharraq chief executive Dr Maher Al Shaer said.

A 115,000-sq-m development land set in the southwest corner of Diyar Al Muharraq city, Dragon City offers wholesale and retail opportunities to local consumers, trade customers and tourists.

The mall design is infused with Chinese architectural and cultural aspects, in a layout which incorporates 750 individual retail store spaces and additionally a 4,500-sq-m area designated for warehouses.

The 6,000-sq-m Dining Street also includes parking space for 1,500 cars.

Dragon City aims to attract foreign investment and create employment opportunities, in addition to meeting consumer demand.

The project was launched in May 2012 following an agreement between Diyar Al Muharraq and Chinamex.

Gulf House Engineering was appointed for design and supervision, Nass Contracting for construction and Baker, Wilkins & Smith Middle East for cost consultancy services, while Cluttons was appointed the leasing agent. - TradeArabia News Service
