Qatar Railways Company took part in the Milipol 2014, a leading trade exhibition dedicated to internal state security in the region, to share expertise on security procedures in the rail industry and exchanged insight on the internal security challenges and concerns.

Its presence at the expo was part of the company's continuing endeavour to adopt the highest standards and best equipment for the security of its projects.

Held every two years, Milipol Qatar is a major international event that provides a showcase for innovative products and services in the field of global security, and a forum for exchange between industry professionals from the Middle East, the Near East and Asia.

Supporting each of the four pillars of the Qatar National Vision 2030, Qatar Rail will develop a safe, efficient, integrated public transportation network, which will provide an attractive and competitive alternative to private transport, capable of achieving a significant modal share, said a top company official.

Dr. Fahad Al Jaber, the quality, health, safety, environment (QHSE) director at Qatar Rail, was speaking at a special gathering with contractors at the security event.

"Safety, security and incident response are on top of our company's priorities as we are always keen to providing the highest levels of safety for our projects, with using the best prevention systems that ensure the health and safety of workers and future passengers at the railway network," he noted.

On its participation at the expo, Al Jaber said: "Qatar Rail benefitted from the participation in Milipol that serves as the ideal meeting place for key players in the Middle East’s security industry and allows participants to strengthen business relationships, build up new contacts and discover the latest sector’s products, services and know-how."

"We also had the opportunity to share expertise on security procedures in the rail industry and exchanged insight on the internal security challenges and concerns, during a special gathering with contractors," he added.

According to him, all of Qatar Rail's modern projects and future plans require long-term basis capabilities and security equipment with high quality standards, which makes the participation in Milipol Qatar an effective way to achieve these goals.

"Taking part in this event has been very fruitful to us especially that Milipol proved once again to be the leading showcase in the Arab world for advanced technology solutions and innovations for professionals in the internal security sector in the State of Qatar," he added.

Qatar Rail, he stated, has been pursuing all efforts in the safety and security field, the latest of which has been the strategic workshop it successfully organized on the safety, security and resilience of the Qatar railway network, in collaboration with its Qatari stakeholders and British partners.-TradeArabia News Service
