Brazilian firms unveil innovative products at The Big 5

DUBAI, November 17, 2014

Top Brazilian companies are showcasing their innovative products and services at The Big 5 2014 which opened today at Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) in Dubai, UAE.

The Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) said that eight leading Brazilian companies will introduce their most advanced solutions at the latest edition of the region’s largest construction exhibition, which will help generate leads for new customers, and gather regional market information and trends as well.

The 120-sq-ft Brazilian pavilion at DWTC’s Sheikh Rashid Hall will enable local, regional and international visitors and potential investors and clients to take a closer look at the extensive range of cutting-edge construction and building materials from the country.

Brazil’s high interest in The Big 5 comes at a time when global exports of its building materials hit $4.94 billion, said the ABCC.

In the GCC region, the export value has so far reached $25.61 million. The UAE accounted for 57.4 per cent of the total transactions to reach $14.71 million, followed by Saudi Arabia ($8.13 million) and Qatar ($1.27 million).

Michel Alaby, the general secretary and chief executive of ABCC, said: "During last year’s Dubai event, six Brazilian companies joined thousands of exhibitors from all over the world. It was a beneficial and fruitful experience as they were able to attain their strategic objectives successfully."

This year, more organisations are taking part in the hope that they will exceed the 2013 accomplishments, he stated.

"Their participation signifies not only their plans to expand their business and meet new clients but also reflects the growing outstanding opportunities in the Middle Eastern market," remarked Alaby.

The Big 5 offers them an ideal platform to interact with potential investors and enter the thriving regional market, he added.

From January to October, the GCC had imported mostly plywood and other laminated wood products from Brazil, with the transaction value hitting $3.46 million.

These were followed by granite ($3.3 million) and appliances for pipes and boiler shells ($2.85 million).

According to Alaby, Brazilian export value for glassware for kitchens, articles of iron and steel, and parts of valves and pipes witnessed an exponential jump in 2014, increasing over 334 per cent, 1,268 per cent, and 4, 312 per cent, respectively.

The UAE, in particular, has imported $2.79 million worth of granite; $2.99 million in pressure valves; $2.79 million in transmission trees; $2.58 million in bulldozers and angle dozers; and $2.01 million in air pumps.

The total machinery exports to the GCC, meanwhile, reached $157.99 million, with the UAE accounting for $26.32 million of the total value, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
