Firms not keen on Jeddah maintenance projects

LONDON, November 30, 2014

Not many private companies in Saudi Arabia are coming forward to bid for maintenance projects in the Jeddah region,  said a report citing a source.

The main reason cited is the 'meagre' amount allocated for such works and also the fact thaat the maintenance operations are still being worked out on old standards and estimations, reported the Arab News.

The prices vary according to the willingness of small firms to take on such projects, the report cited the source as saying.

On the other hand, big companies’ prices are “exaggerated.” he stated.

“The problem can be solved by upgrading the levels of the bidding companies and increasing the allocations to some reasonable amounts, in addition to developing the old standards,” the source added.
