The victorious architects celebrate their win.

McDowell+Benedetti win big at UK architect award

LONDON, December 6, 2014

London-based McDowell+Benedetti won top honours at the recent Architect of the Year Awards held in London, UK.

Launched in 2004, these awards are unique in recognising a body of work across different sectors, judged by a panel of industry experts.

McDowell+Benedetti received the Infrastructure Architect of the Year in front of more than 600 guests at The Brewery in London.

Organised by a British architectural magazine Building Design, these awards are distinguished from other architectural honours by virtue of honouring overall achievement within a particular sector.

The ceremony was hosted by actor Stephen Mangan who announced the winners of all 14 categories.

The other Architect of the Year Winners for 2014 are:

*Sports & Leisure Architect of the Year: Arup Associates
*Housing Architect of the Year: dRMM
*Interior Architect of the Year: Spacelab
*Office Architect of the Year: Ian Simpson Architects
*Individual House Architect of the Year: Piercy&Company
*Refurbishment Architect of the Year: Haworth Tompkins
*Masterplanning & Public Realm Architect of the Year: Allies and Morrison
*Small (non-housing) Architect of the Year: Flanagan Lawrence
*Public Building Architect of the Year: Haworth Tompkins
*Education Architect of the Year: Allies and Morrison
*Sustainability Architect of the Year: Hewitt Studios
*Schueco Gold Award Winner: Haworth Tompkins
*Young Architect of the Year Winner: Langarita-Navarro Arquitectos

These Architect of the Year Awards recognise the UK practices responsible for the best overall body of work in 12 different categories, as well as the Schueco Gold Award for the best of the best.-TradeArabia News Service
