Action Group ..... plans first hotel development in Dubai.

Action to build three-star hotel in Dubai Healthcare City

DUBAI, December 18, 2014

Action Hotels Company, a leading owner, developer and asset manager of branded three- and four-star hotels in the Middle East and Australia, has acquired a prime freehold plot of land in Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) to develop a 240-room three-star branded hotel.

DHCC is a free zone mandated to meet the demand for high-quality, patient-centered healthcare.
Through strategic partnerships, DHCC brings together a wealth of services in healthcare, medical education and research, pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, wellness and allied support.

The 26,312-sq-ft plot has been jointly acquired with Action Group Holdings from the DHCC for $15.7 million, said a statement from the company. This will be Action's first hotel development in Dubai, UAE.

Action said the new project will give the company a good head start as currently there are no operating three-star hotels in the DHCC.

The company's board too believes this will allow the company to attract the families and friends of the patients and will address the demand for quality affordable accommodation in the area.

Alain Debare, the CEO of Action Hotels, said: "I'm delighted that we are to become joint freeholder of this desirable plot of land. Our ability to source and secure this very much in-demand plot is a testament to our connections and networking within the region to develop our economy and midscale hotels growth strategy across the Middle East."

"This hotel fits with our strategy to provide economy and mid market hotel rooms in key locations. DHCC has firmly established itself as the region's leading medical hub and drives a strong demand for accommodation," he noted.

According to him, the incoming travellers are also on the rise, with Dubai Airport reporting a 6.2 per cent increase in passenger volume between 2013 and 2014.

"In addition, with the World Expo being held in Dubai in 2020, the region is expecting an influx of over 25 million visitors. About 70 per cent of visitors will come from overseas and therefore demand for hotel accommodation is forecast to significantly exceed the current supply, guaranteeing high occupancy and average room rates for hotels in the region," said Debare.

"The strategic location is expected to drive strong demand for branded economy hotel rooms from nearby medical facilities, schools and businesses," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
