OPWP power project .... the first IPP in Musandam.

Oman floats tender for Musandam IPP consultancy

MUSCAT, February 17, 2015

The Oman Power and Water Procurement Company (OPWP) has floated a tender for picking a consultant for project management and technical consultancy services for the 120-MW Musandam power project, a report said.

The consultant will oversee construction, commissioning and testing of the independent power project (IPP), added the Times of Oman report.

The project, the first IPP in Musandam, is being implemented by Musandam Power Company (MPC) on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis under the terms of a power purchase agreement with OPWP, the report said.

MPC also signed in December 2014 an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract and long-term service agreement with Wartsila Muscat for building the dual-fuel fired power plant at Tibat in Musandam.

The project's concession period is fixed at 15 years and the power plant will commence operations by the fourth quarter of 2016, according to the report.
