Al Khayyat .... inviting bids for nine major projects.

Bahrain awards key road, sanitary contracts

MANAMA, March 11, 2015

Bahrain had awarded six contracts worth BD1.4 million ($3.69 million) in February mainly for sanitary and construction works, besides inviting bids for nine major projects, said a senior official.

The Works, Municipality Affairs and Urban Planning Ministry said last month it had also invited bids for roads, sanitary and construction tenders worth BD3.28 million ($8.64 million).

In the sanitary sector, the awarded tenders covered the BD600,000 ($1.58 million) term contract project for the urgent works to upgrade substations and the BD266,950 ($703,778) 3C Storm Water Drainage Network Project at the Northern and Southern governorates, revealed Ahmed Abdul Aziz Al Khayyat, the assistant undersecretary for technical services.

In the construction sector, four tenders were awarded including the second phase of the lighting and landscaping of Isa Sports City parking lot at a cost of BD393,100 ($1.03 million).

As for the nine tenders for which bids were invited, in the roads sector these included the consultancy services and the detailed designs for the revamp of Isa Town Northern Entrance (Bahrain Gas Interchange) and second phase of the road revamp project in Sadad, Block 1038, Road 3813 and the environs, Karzakan Block 1026 and constructing Road 2631 and parking spaces.

In the sanitary sector, bids were invited for the operation and maintenance of Sitra sewage treatment plant; implementation of a sewerage network in Dimistan Block 1019; transfer of the sewerage line in Muharraq Sports Club in Arad Block 240; consultancy services for the main western sewerage line; and consultancy services for the design of the main sewerage line in northeast Muharraq.

As for the construction sector, bids were invited for quantity survey services for the design and construction of a multi-storey tower in Manama.

Al Khayyat said the ministry’s cost engineering directorate, represented by the Purchase Department, had approved 189 purchase requests worth BD676,551 ($1.78 million) in February, in addition to approving a new contractors pre-qualification request and five contractors and suppliers renewal requests.-TradeArabia News Service
