Blue Water Dubai .... a major project for ACES.

ACES completes geotechnical tests for big UAE project

DUBAI, June 7, 2015

ACES Dubai, a specialist in site testing, environmental studies and quality control of projects, said it has completed the geotechnical investigation for the Blue Water Dubai, a landmark project being developed by UAE group Meraas Holding in Dubai.

Located off the Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR) coastline, ‘Bluewaters’ will be built on reclaimed artificial island. It will feature demarcated retail, residential, hospitality and entertainment zones.

Serving as the centerpiece of the island project, a 210-m Ferris wheel (Dubai Eye) will offer breath-taking views of Dubai’s exotic coastline and iconic landmarks such as Burj Al Arab, Palm Jumeirah and Burj Khalifa.

ACES said the investigation was carried out in phases where a total of 110 boreholes were drilled to depths ranging from 15m to 65m below ground level (total linear meters drilled ~ 3,785m).

Wireline core barrels were employed to obtain high quality core samples, stated the company.

In addition to this, ACES also conducted cone penetration tests (CPT) at the project site besides high pressure dilatometer, falling head and packer permeability and geophysics downhole seismic tests.

The Amman-based group later completed the installation of standpipe piezometers at the Blue Water Island site.

ACES, which was established in Amman (Jordan) in 1983, is specialised in site and geotechnical investigation, materials technology and testing, quality control of projects, special studies, environmental studies and testing besides land and marine surveying. It has a network of 15 offices operating across the Middle East with more than 1900 employees.-TradeArabia News Service
