New markets ... to be ready in two years.

Qatar starts work on three new markets

DOHA, June 21, 2015

Qatar has started work on a major project to build new central markets, each for vegetables, meat, livestock and poultry, on a 20,000-sq-m plot of land, said a report.

These new markets will come up at Al Sayliyah, Umm Salal and Al Wakrah areas of the country. The work  is expected to be completed within the next two years, reported the Gulf Times, citing the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC).

The ministry’s permanent committee for the management of central markets had earlier signed up Manateq Company for supervising the project.

Al Muntasser Contracting Company has been awarded the Al Sayliyah market project, while Marco Trading and Contracting Company will take care of the Umm Salal project and Al Wakrah market is being built by Builders Trading and Contracting Company, stated the report.

These markets will also boast special facilities such as bank branches, ATMs, commercial outlets and even accommodation for the employees working there.
