Dubai municipality working on $473m projects
DUBAI, July 1, 2015
Dubai Municipality is currently working on 23 main projects worth around Dh1.74 billion ($473 million) including a fish market, Dubai Safari and the Thuraya astronomical observatory, said a report, citing a topp official.
The work on some of these projects started last year and is now expected to be ready this year, reported the Gulf News, citing Hussain Lootah, the director-general of the municipality.
Among other projects is one shaped like a giant window frame, being developed near Star Gate games and rides area of Zabeel Park. Dubai Frame will allow panoramic views of Old Dubai areas from one side and the New Dubai skyline from another, stated the report.
The new municipality building in Al Garhoud area, where work is now ongoing, is slated for completion in December, it added.
In 2016, the municipality will complete nine main projects, including the Dh305-million ($83 million) African Village phase of the overall billion-dirham Dubai Safari project, which is expected to open in the third quarter of next year.
Among the new projects added to the municipality’s growing list of projects is the Dubai Club for Special Sports, which will be ready by October 2016, the report added.
