MAKKAH, August 25, 2015
Saudi Arabia has awarded contracts worth about SR2.5 billion ($665.6 million) to companies to clean up the holy sites during Haj this year, according to a report.
Saudi Arabia's Municipal and Rural Affairs Minister Abdul Lateef Al Asheikh praised the country’s leaders and the various government and private agencies for providing top quality services for pilgrims performing Haj, said the Arab News report.
The cleaning operations have been in full swing since July 22 in 10 municipalities, it said.
The firms included several specialised companies, covering five cleaning zones in Makkah and the holy sites, it added.
