The diesel genset market in Saudi Arabia is set to witness solid growth over the next few years, mainly due to increasing construction activities across the kingdom, said a report.

The kingdom accounts for a major portion of the diesel genset market in the GCC region, driven by the surge in retail and hospitality projects and investments to create new business opportunities in the country, according to a study by Research and Markets.

Diesel gensets have become a major power source for building modern infrastructure in the GCC region, it added.

Thanks to the availability of huge oil reserves in the region, more and more companies in the GCC are utilising gensets to power their infrastructure, said the study.

Further, these are heavily deployed to provide prime, back-up and peak power, it added.

According to the study, the changing government policies, establishment of IT/ITeS sector and automotive manufacturing expansion, and growth in public infrastructure is fuelling the diesel genset market in Saudi Arabia.

During the forecast period, amongst all the applications, utilities, oil and gas, construction and industrial applications dominated the market, where major growth is exhibited in the construction and industrial application.
