Qatar starts work on new intersection

DOHA, September 20, 2015

Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said it has started work on a new intersection at Corniche Street to help ease traffic flow coming from the National Theatre and the Emiri Diwan Intersection.

The project, which also includes widening a part of Al Rumailah Street to three lanes from the current two, will be completed in another two months, said a statement from Ashghal.

The new intersection aims to enable Corniche Street users coming from Al Diwan Intersection towards the National Theatre Intersection to either make left-hand turns onto Al Rumailah Street or U-turns to the other side of the street, without the need to continue until the National Theatre Intersection then make a U-turn, it added.

According to Ashghal, temporary closures will only take place on the lane adjacent to the work zone in the median on Corniche Street.

Those closures will happen only during the night and for a maximum of two hours each time when delivering and unloading the material that will be used onto the median island, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
