Museum of the Future ... to feature the Arabic poetry of Dubai’s ruler.

Aces wins Dubai museum project deal

DUBAI, October 4, 2015

Arab Center for Engineering Studies (Aces) Dubai said it has been awarded the contract to conduct geotechnical investigation for the prestigious Museum of the Future project in Dubai, UAE.

A first-of-its-kind development, the $136-million Museum of the Future is a shiny, steel-clad ovular building which will feature the Arabic poetry of Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, on its exterior facade.

The building, which will be located next to Dubai’s Emirates Towers and the Dubai International Financial Center, aims to actively produce innovative ideas and futuristic inventions. It is scheduled to open in 2017.

Aces Dubai said, as per the deal, it will complete an extensive geotechnical investigation for the museum.

The scope of work includes drilling boreholes with depths ranging from 40 to 80 m, performing cone penetration tests (CPTs), excavating trial pits, installing piezometers, and conducting packer permeability and pressuremeter tests besides the geophysical logging including multichannel analysis of surface waves, down-hole and cross-hole tests.

The contract has been awarded by Meraas Development, while the geotechnical engineering consultant is Buro Happold Engineering.

"This is a significant win for Aces Dubai. Given the magnitude and distinctiveness of the project, we are committed to supporting it with our resources and high technical expertise," said  Emad Sharif, the manager of Aces Dubai and Oman.

Aces Dubai, he stated, has completed the soil investigation and testing works for some of Dubai’s most recognisable landmarks including Burj Khalifa, the Palm Jumeirah and Dubai Metro.

The group boasts a network of 15 offices across the Middle East and more than 2,000 employees.-TradeArabia News Service
