Indian engineering, construction firms eye Oman JVs

DUBAI, October 8, 2015

Several Indian engineering and construction firms are looking to set up joint ventures (JVs) in the sultanate to target growing opportunities in the country, said a report.

As many as five or six Indian firms are in discussions with potential local partners for setting up JVs, reported the Muscat Daily citing an industry expert.

"These companies are looking for building and infrastructure projects and to sell construction equipment in Oman," revealed Rajesh Sharma, the senior director for international relations at Trade Promotion Council of India (TPCI).

Sharma led a delegation of around 15 Indian companies to the Infra Oman exhibition held recently at the Oman International Exhibition Centre.

The companies from the engineering, construction, ceramic, automation, pumps and other construction equipment fields showcased their products and equipment at the exhibition.

"We have received a very positive response and these firms are in talks to set up JVs with suitable Omani firms. We are looking forward to increased investments from both sides," he said on the sidelines of the 'Business Meet' hosted by the Indian embassy in Muscat for the visiting companies.

The visiting firms included Shri Prempuriji Granimarbo; Prime Automation Systems; Weartech Alloys; Stone India; Maxmech Equipment; Trade Link; Pieco India Engineering Company; Algorithms Software; Livon Ceramic; Lizon; Digital Wall Tiles; Rey Cera-Creation and Simbel India Engineering Company.
