Jumeirah Village Circle ... one of Nakheel’s key mixed-use projects.

Nakheel inks Jumeirah road project deal

DUBAI, October 14, 2015

Leading developer Nakheel has awarded a Dh27.5-million ($7.48 million) contract for road development and to set up traffic signals at its Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC) project in Dubai, UAE.

The contract, which has been awarded to Dubai-based KTC International Contracting, involves enhancements and traffic signal installation at 29 major junctions within the 811-hectare community.

Nakheel said the work is due to begin in a few weeks’ time and will take 10 months for completion.

JVC is one of Nakheel’s largest and fastest-growing mixed-use developments which, when complete, will accommodate some 300,000 residents.

Nakheel has delivered more than 700 villas at JVC, with over 230 buildings, villas and townhouses by third-party developers either complete or under construction. Another 267 design applications for residential, commercial and hospitality developments are under review.

Residents at JVC can also look forward to easier access to the community via a new entry and exit road from Dubai’s Hessa Street, for which Nakheel issued a tender this week, said the developer in a statement.

JVC will also be home to The Circle Mall, Nakheel’s new shopping, dining and entertainment hub, with 235 shops, cafes and restaurants and a multi-screen cinema. Construction of the mall will begin this year.

The massive development also features 33 landscaped parks, spanning more than 4 million sq ft in total. Nakheel has completed 25 of them, with the remaining eight in progress.

Construction will begin when proposals have been received and evaluated, and a contractor appointed, it added.-TradeArabia News Service
