DSCE joins forces with Dubai Land Department

DUBAI, January 11, 2016

The Dubai Supreme Council of Energy (DSCE) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Dubai Land Department for the exchange of knowledge and to create awareness among the community on energy and water conservation.

This forms the foundation for further co-operation in energy demand side management to draw an energy-intensity map of Dubai, said Ahmed Butti Al Muhairbi, the DSCE secretary general, after signing the agreement with Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, the director general of the Dubai Land Department, at the recent Dubai Sustainable Cities Summit.

The event was organised by the Dubai Land Department in collaboration with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).

Commenting on the deal, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the DSCE vice-chairman and managing director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), said: "We are excited about contributing to the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 which is aimed at reducing energy consumption by 30 per cent."

"In line with Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050, we are working towards becoming the city with the lowest carbon footprint in the world," he added.

Al Muhairbi said through its co-operation with the Dubai Land Department, the council was seeking to exchange knowledge and raise awareness among the community about conserving energy and water, with this energy intensity map.

Bin Mejren expressed delight at working alongside the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy to not only save resources, but also to save the environment as well.

"Through the Dubai Land Department’s influence within Dubai’s real estate market, we can keep the council updated regarding resources, and the preservation of energy,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
