Korean firms in Dubai metro project talks

DUBAI, February 4, 2016

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said it is in discussion with Korean firms for its upcoming road and transport infrastructure projects in the emirate.

The projects include Route 2020 for the extension of the Dubai Metro Red Line to the exhibition yard of Expo 2020, extension of the Green Line of the Dubai Metro, Phase II of Dubai Tram, and several roads and bridges projects, said a statement from RTA.

"Over the next few years, RTA would engage in constructing rail projects, comprising the metro and tram, costing billions of dirhams," stated Mattar Al Tayer, the director-general and chairman of the RTA board after a meeting with Heo Nam-duk, the new South Korean Consul-General in Dubai.

The duo explored ways of boosting co-operation and sharing expertise between the RTA and its Korean counterpart. They also discussed cooperation with Korean firms operating in transportation systems and roads sector.

Future projects offer a great opportunity for companies to bid for tenders released by the RTA, noted Al Tayer.-TradeArabia News Service
