Ashghal wins key project management accreditation

DOHA, March 13, 2016

Qatar's Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said it has been accredited as a registered education provider (REP) by the US-based Project Management Institute.

The institute, headquartered in Philadelphia, is the world's leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project, programme and portfolio management profession.

Those institutions that get the REP accreditation from the institute are eligible to provide educational services which aim to prepare the project managers to become qualified through certificates in Project Management Professional (PMP) and Programme Management Professional (PgMP), in addition to other certificates related to the project management professional, said a statement from Ashghal.

Saif Ali Al Kaabi, the human resources manager, said: "With this achievement, Ashghal has become the only governmental entity in Qatar to obtain this accreditation from the PMI.

"This means that these institutions have met the strict quality standards of the Project Management Institute to design the content of the training courses, trainer qualifications, and designing teaching and training method based on the PMI’s standards," remarked Al Kaabi.

This will give Ashghal employees the opportunity to participate in the project management programmes accredited by PMI, and also receive high-level training in several cognitive fields related to project management, in addition to obtaining the accreditation in Project Management Professional, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
