RTA to open key traffic detour in Dubai

DUBAI, March 29, 2016

Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said the second and final stage of the main traffic diversion at Al Houdh Roundabout at Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road in Dubai has been completed.

The detour, which extends 2.8 km on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road (both directions) and 1.5 km on Al Yalayis Road, is set for opening early April this year, said a statement from RTA.

“The traffic heading towards the existing Al Houdh Roundabout from all directions would be diverted to a mini signalised roundabout in order to complete roads works in the surrounds of the flyover, which is expected to be completed in the last quarter of this year,” explained Maitha bin Adai, the CEO of Traffic and Roads Agency, RTA.

She emphasised the importance of maintaining the same number of the existing traffic lanes without affecting the scope of the project for the safety of road users and the smooth traffic flow in the area.

Maitha called on road users to be attentive, observe signs in place and adhere to the speed limits for their safety in line with RTA’s vision of safe and smooth transport for all.-TradeArabia News Service
