Karcher posts double-digit Mideast growth

DUBAI, May 3, 2016

Karcher, a world leader in innovative cleaning technology solutions, has recorded double-digit sales growth in the Middle East region in 2015, despite difficult market conditions, mainly through expansion of its products and services into various other industries.

The company, which is headquartered in Winnenden, Germany, boasts a wide product range of high-pressure cleaners, vacuum cleaners, steam cleaners, window vacs, vacuum sweepers, scrubber driers, vehicle washing bays, drinking water and wastewater treatment systems, dry ice blasters, cleaning agents, garden and household pumps, watering systems and drinking water dispensers.

To ensure growth in the long term, Karcher had invested heavily in 2015. Currently, it has almost 550 Karcher centres.

As part of its Middle East expasion strategy, the family-owned company is expected to open a new centre in Dubai, UAE, with another 20 planned across the region by 2020.

Commenting on the growth, Richard Nouira, the managing director of Karcher (Middle East) said:  "Despite some volatility in some Middle East economies, we have managed to push through. This is due to our products quality and reliability which has built trust and preference among many customers in the region."

A leading supplier of cleaning technology to the private, commercial and industrial sectors, Karcher witnessed solid growth in 2015 setting a new record with Dh9.2 billion ($2.5 billion) worth of sales, up five per cent over the year before.

It sold 12.87 million machines last year thus achieving the highest sales in the company's history with a Dh450 million ($123 million) increase over 2014.

"Our growth in 2015 was once again much higher than the industry average," said its chairman Hartmut Jenner.

"This is mainly due to our innovativeness and ongoing internationalisation of our business. Despite difficult economic conditions in part, we have held our ground and managed to more than compensate for slumps in sales in our present growth markets Russia and Brazil," he added.

In 2015, Karcher developed a new series of manufacturing products, such as the fleet management system which is a digital service product for use by building contractors.

Additionally, the company played a pioneering role in digitalisation in the end consumer segment; the prototype of the first water timer from Karcher, which can be remotely operated via a smartphone app, was presented at the IFA 2015 in Berlin, Germany.-TradeArabia News Service
