Falconcity of Wonders backs Dubai’s 'green' agenda

DUBAI, May 22, 2016

UAE-based Falconcity of Wonders, the developer of a multi-purpose mega project coming up in Dubai, has joined hands with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) to launch its new 'Save the Nature’ contest.

Occupying more than 41 million sq ft, Falconcity of Wonders is a sprawling residential, tourist, entertainment and recreational megaproject shaped in the form of a falcon in tribute to the UAE’s emblem.

The mega development embraces the cultures of the world with its contemporary and unique structures that are inspired by the Wonders of the World – including the Leaning Tower of Dubai, the Dueiffel Tower Dubai, the Pyramids Park and the Dubai Hanging Gardens of Babylon, to name a few.

'Save the Nature' is an eco-campaign aimed at highlighting the emirate’s sustainability vision. It is a centrepiece initiative under the UAE developer’s comprehensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) platform which prioritises the responsible use of energy and water resources within the community.

As per this utility conservation competition, residents of Falconcity of Wonders who log the least electricity and water usage at their premises during the campaign period till August 31, will be rewarded.

The contest is open to residents and tenants who will compete under five categories based on built-up area and who must reduce their utility consumption by seven per cent or above. The winners will be announced online at Falconcity of Wonders' website on September 10.

Lauding the initiative, Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the managing director and chief executive of Dewa, said: "'Save the Nature' supports our efforts in encouraging customers to use resources sensibly and reducing their consumption of electricity and water to promote a sustainable way of life as a daily practice in society."

"We are pleased to cooperate with developers, organisations, and companies in initiatives that encourage customers to adopt sensible practices, and raise awareness on the importance of following environment-friendly practices to protect our natural resources," he added.

Alharith bin Salem Almoosa, the vice chairman and deputy general manager, Falconcity of Wonders, said: "The latest edition of ‘Save the Nature’ carries on the momentum of the competition’s highly successful debut last year."

"It reiterates our firm commitment to encouraging residents to ‘think green’ and become proactive eco-advocates who can truly make a difference in the future of our environment," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
