MUSCAT, June 2, 2016

Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC) has signed agreements worth RO247 million ($638 million) for the development and expansion of the sultanate's electricity distribution grid, said a report.

A large percentage of the signed projects relate to the requirement of transmitting electricity from Ibri and Sohar power stations which are expected to be operational by 2018 and 2019 respectively, stated Oman Observer.

The total capacity of these power stations will be approximately 3,200 MW. The other projects are related to meeting the growing demand for electricity in various regions of the Sultanate, it added.
