Abu Dhabi approves $148m infrastructure projects

ABU DHABI, July 16, 2016

Abu Dhabi government is set to pump in more than Dh544 million ($148 million) on major infrastructural projects including new internal roads, water networks, a wastewater system, electricity and communication lines and rain water drainage systems, said a report.

The Abu Dhabi Executive Council approved the referral of contracting for the roads and infrastructure projects at several plots in Mohammad Bin Zayed City, stated Wam.

The project services 119 units, 96 of which are residential, while 23 are plots dedicated for public facilities. It includes the construction of internal roads over 7.7km, water networks, a wastewater system, electricity and communication lines, irrigation systems, rain water drainage systems, and internal road lighting, said the report.

The committee also approved the referral of contracting for internal roads and infrastructure projects in Al Nahda military Residential zone, Bani Yas and Al Shawamekh, worth over Dh102 million.

The project includes establishing the infrastructure for 179 residential units, a 7.66-km-long internal road, 13.5-km-long pavement project, 1,422 car parking spaces, essential infrastructure work linked to existing networks, and the transfer and protection of existing service lines in these areas.

The committee further approved the referral of contracting for the project to complete the development of Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Road from the Al Falah intersection to Qasr Al Bahr intersection, worth Dh54.577 million, said the Wam report.

This project involves the construction and revamp of a 3.5-km road, and building an inclined bridge and the necessary infrastructure, it added.
