Kone wins Dubai 'green' building project order

DUBAI, November 8, 2016

Kone, a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, has won an order for 32 elevators and four escalators to be installed in the three buildings of a mixed-use complex under construction in Dubai’s central business district in the UAE.

The contract for the Central One was awarded to Al Futtaim Carillion, while the key designers of the project are Hopkins Architects. The office buildings are designed to be of the highest environmental standards and they are targeting Leed Platinum status, said a statement from the company.

Built on 1,040,000 sq m of land, One Central includes nearly 300,000 sq m of Grade A1 offices and retail space together with five-, four- and three-star hotels, serviced apartments and a club and lofts tower. It is expected to be completed in 2017, it stated.

Twenty two Kone MiniSpace elevators and 10 Kone MonoSpace elevators will enable smooth people flow in all of the 12 towers, which range in height from 12 to 88 m.

The Kone e-Link remote monitoring system will provide real-time information on equipment status and performance.

“The number of ‘green or carbon-neutral’ buildings across the Middle East and North Africa region is on the rise,” remarked Pierre Liautaud, the executive vice president for Kone (South Europe, Middle East and Africa).

“We are excited to be part of this development with our energy-efficient solutions,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
