Manara completes Bahrain industrial zone work

Bahrain-based Manara Developments Company said it had recently completed infrastructure works worth $66 million on Phase One of its ambitious Investment Gateway - Bahrain project.

The work involved construction of the main 66 -kV power station of Investment Gateway – Bahrain project and 29 substations in order to power the 600,000-sq-m Phase One in collaboration with the Electricity and Water Authority (Ewa), said a statement from Manara.

The Bahraini developer also made arrangements for the preparation and reclamation of the site besides developing the infrastructure of the project to include paving of the roads and pedestrian walkways, the erection of lampposts, in addition to the installation of substations to power approximately 394 plots in the Phase One.

Of this, 41 plots have been dedicated for offices and showrooms, and 252 plots for warehousing, handling services, sales services and light industry, in addition to 101 plots that are designed to accommodate three-storey commercial buildings.

In addition, the sewage network has been developed as well as the water and irrigation system, rainwater drainage and communication cabling works, said the developer.

The electrical station commissioning and completion of infrastructural works were done in accordance with the requirements of the newly-established industrial zone, which is the fastest growing development in Bahrain, it added.

EWA chief executive Shaikh Nawaf bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said the Bahraini utility firm would provide a total of 48 MW of reliable power and also operate and maintain the distribution infrastructure network within the project.

Manara's managing director Dr Hasan Al Bastaki said the support received from the government in general and in particular from Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister and chairman of the ministerial services committee, helped in pushing ahead with all the works

There has been an overwhelming response from investors for the first phase of the project, which will be followed by Phase Two that is scheduled for delivery by 2018, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
