Abu Dhabi bidding hall processes $3.8bn tenders

The Al Maqta’a bidding hall, which was set up in the UAE to ensure transparency in the bidding process, has processed 59 tenders worth over Dh14 billion ($3.8 billion) for 14 government entities in Abu Dhabi by the end of 2016.
These capital and operational project tenders managed by ‘Al Maqta’a bidding hall’ included service, infrastructure and operational projects, according to the Department of Finance – Abu Dhabi (DoF).
The tenders processed in 2016 were from the following organisations: National Archive ‘NCDR’, DoF- Abu Dhabi, Western Region Municipality, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, Al Ain Municipality, Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company, Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company ‘Transco’, Al Ain Distribution Company (AADC), Abu Dhabi General Services ‘Musanada’, Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority and the Centre for Regulation of Transport by Hire Cars (Transad).
The results reflect the success in government planning to diversify the economy and government investments in key sectors except the oil sector, including continuous growth in various government sectors in Abu Dhabi, said the DoF statement.
The tender projects managed by Al Maqta’a bidding hall’ during 2016 included a strategically important projects strategic such as roads and infrastructures, national housing, schools, government buildings and the management of government facilities, it added.
DoF said the bidding hall’s operations are managed electronically which reflects Abu Dhabi Government’s commitment to adopt the best governance practices in managing government tenders, achieve transparency and strengthen local economy competitiveness.
Al Maqta’a bidding hall offers a range of logistics services related to capital and operational tender projects worth over Dh100 billion ($27.2 million).
The supervisory committee of ‘Al Maqta’a bidding hall’ ensures full implementation of the hall’s procedure manual, saving documents and information on tenders, raising reports to concerned authorities and deciding on grievances or complaints from suppliers or contractors, it added. -TradeArabia News Service
