Abu Dhabi readies 546 parking spaces for motorcycles

ABU DHABI, March 5, 2017

Abu Dhabi's Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT) has developed 546 parking spaces for motorcycles across the capital city.

The project has been implemented through its key unit Mawaqif, which is responsible for management and regulation of parking services in Abu Dhabi.

It is in line with the Integrated Transport Center’s (ITC) plans to effectively managing parking spaces and increase the level of safety, said a senior official.

“Ten sectors are included in the first stage of the implementation and are free of charges for the first six months,” remarked Mohammed Al Muhairi, the parking division (Mawaqif) director.

“Offering parking spaces that are specifically dedicated for motorcycles is planned according to Mawaqif’s strategy that aims to provide effective services and to gain customers’ satisfaction,” stated Al Muhairi.

According to him, 546 parking spaces were implemented in 10 sectors with 108 within those sectors. Of this, 46 are located in seven spots within sectors E16.

In sector E16-01, 12 different locations has 58 parking spaces, said the official.

"Another 17 locations included 65 parking spaces in sector E16-02 and 77 parking spaces in 13 locations within sector E18-02. There are also 75 parking spaces in sector E15," he explained.

Four locations in sector E13 included 18 parking spaces. Mawaqif has also implemented 115 parking spaces in 26 locations within sector E4-01. In sector E7-01, there were 18 parking spaces in two different locations.

According to him, 46 parking spaces are in five different locations in sector W2, while in sector W9, five locations are included with 33 parking spaces.-TradeArabia News Service
