The Commercial Real Estate Development Company (Al-Tijaria) has signed a BD16-million ($41.8 million) construction contract for a luxury residential tower project in Bahrain's Diplomatic area.

Fundament SPC was selected as the main contractor for the Al Tijaria Tower project. Arab Architects is the main consultant. The project is scheduled for completion in 26 months.

Al-Tijaria is owned by the Commercial Real Estate Company in Kuwait.

Al Tijaria Residential Tower will be one of the finest residential projects in the kingdom, strategically located in the heart of capital Manama, near the Bait Al Quran. Abeer Akbari & Associates is the interior designer.

The project will be built on a land area of 3,856 sq m. It will have a built-up area of 76,805 sq m and feature 50 floors with a total of 351 sea-view apartments, comprising studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom units. It will consist of six parking floors (including basement levels), one dedicated floor for facilities and amenities, 10 floors for Symphony furnished apartments and 39 floors of freehold units.

The signing ceremony has been attended by Al-Tijaria chairman Abdulfatah Marafie, vice-chairman Adwan Al Adwani, board members Ibrahim Al Ghanim, Abdulmutaleb Marafie and chief executive officer Fawaz Ibrahim; managing director of Fundament Ali Ahmed Al Derazi and chief executive officer of Arab Architects Mazen Araiqat.

Piling work has already been completed on what is designed to be the tallest residential building in Bahrain.

The Al-Tijaria Tower will offer several luxury facilities, including a swimming pool for adults with Jacuzzi, a swimming pool for kids with a playing area as well as an infinity pool with Jacuzzi.  The tower also features a business centre, a multi-purpose hall, an outdoor theatre and a multisport court for playing basketball, volleyball and tennis.

The project is expected to be the first in a series of developments to be launched in Bahrain by Al-Tijaria.
