VIP in Dubai Legoland coating work success

DUBAI, May 2, 2017

Voelkel Industrie Produkte (VIP), a leading provider of superior surface protection solutions in the region, said it had completed the coating work on 22,000 sq m of concrete at the Legoland project in Dubai, UAE, in record time.

A massive undertaking, the entire project presented a highly pressurised challenge for VIP Coating Solutions, said a statement from the company.

VIP had been commissioned by Dubai Parks and Resorts (DPR) for the Legoland and Legoland Water Theme Park coating work.

With a tight deadline for completion, coupled with a colossal projected footfall, VIP executed solutions that were fast acting, long-lasting, highly waterproof and incredibly safe to line more than 22,000 sq m of concrete, stated the company.

All of which was completed way ahead of schedule, in an unparalleled 45 days, it added.

VIP Coating International handled a total of eight sub-projects in the amusement park, all presenting uniquely challenging applications and operating environments. These included Jet Ski Pool; Under Sea Adventure Pool;  Aluminium Roof Sandwich Panels and Gutters; Mini Land Indoor Lego Structures; Wave Pool; Lazy River Pool;• Underground Surge, Turbine, and Potable Water Tanks and La Pita Hotel with Lazy River area.

"With a theme park open all year round in the sweltering Dubai heat - for tourists and residents alike, there was a strong requirement from the client to provide an industrial lining of implausible strength and durability, that also had to be aesthetically pleasing and able to with stand prolonged sunlight and corrosive salt water, all while being swim safe and fish-friendly," remarked Alex Voelkel, the managing director of VIP.

Although the project consisted of mainly new concrete substrates, considering the diverse landscape of an amusement park, VIP developed custom coating solutions for concrete substrates, composite wood substrates, PVC, steel, and iron substrates as well, said Voelkel.

"However, despite these significant challenges and the tight schedule involved, all sub-projects were finished well ahead of schedule and to the customer’s satisfaction," he stated.

Subsequently, as a result of Legoland’s success, VIP has since been a key solution provider to other sizeable projects including: re-facing the running track in JBR, reinforcing the docks of the jumeirah Fishing Harbour, anti-bacterial lining in Sheikh Hamdan’s Falcon Hospital and Saraya Bandar Jissah Lagoon, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
