Muharraq seafront project reclamation work under way

MANAMA, August 22, 2017

Reclamation work at the site of the estimated a BD45-million ($117.4 million) Saada West waterfront mixed-use development in Bahrain's Muharraq is progressing well, Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah) has announced.

Already five per cent of land reclamation has been completed, said Edamah, the real estate arm of the Bahrain Mumtalakat Holding Company.

The project covers a total site area of 18,100 sq m and will feature a promenade alongside a harbour with dedicated retail and dining experiences, entertainment facilities and an amphitheatre, opposite a modern marina for the mooring of boats, Edamah said.

"Edamah’s mandate to build signature destinations and support community living is reinforced in the Saada development," said Edamah acting CEO Mahmood Hashem Alkooheji.

The project is among five major developments planned by Edamah. Others include a BD350-million ($913 million) North Hawar eco-friendly development;  The Terminal, a multi-storey car park in Adliya; Versaille Plaza, a French-themed cultural hub; and Sharwa, a retail strip in Isa Town.

Sa’ada will be developed in two phases. The first will include restaurants and cafes, a marina, and entertainment facilities, while the second will include a four-star hotel with a multi-storey car-park that will connect the suq with the waterfront through a pedestrian bridge. - TradeArabia News Service
