ABU DHABI, September 20, 2017

The Abu Dhabi government has started work on a strategic tunnel project in line with its Vision 2030 to create a world-class wastewater treatment system, said a report.

Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, was briefed about the ongoing developments at the project site including the construction of a permanent canal attached to it.

He praised the progress in this strategic project and the efforts of all the people involved to adopt the highest international standards, reported state news agency Wam.

He was speaking at a meeting with a delegation of Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court.

The company’s Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Programme, (Step), is a major part of the future infrastructure projects being implemented by the Abu Dhabi government and its social, urban and economic development plans, which aim to fulfil the emirate’s long-term needs and provide sustainable solutions, stated the report.
