Over 28,000 building projects under way in Dubai

DUBAI, 10 days ago

A total of 28,600 building projects are presently under construction across Dubai, UAE, covering a 551 million-sq-ft area, said Emirati news agency Wam, citing a senior official.

In addition, 5,633 building projects, covering a construction area of 75.1 million sq ft, have been completed in the emirate this year up to the end of September, revealed Layali Al Mulla, the director of the Buildings Department in Dubai Municipality.

A majority of these buildings are being built using 'green' concrete resulting in a reduction in the carbon dioxide ratio of nearly one million tonnes, stated the official.

Abdullah Al Shezawi, the head of the engineering supervision section in the Buildings Department, said they had received 42,267 requests for construction site inspection from the beginning of the year until the end of September.

Of these 9,000 requests for site inspections were for the purpose of building completion certificates, he added.
