Thyssenkrupp unit wins Turkish polymer plants contract

DORTMUND (Germany), December 4, 2017

Thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions, a leading provider of engineering and construction services for industrial plants and systems, said one of its units has been awarded a contract to build two new world-scale polymer plants in Adana, Turkey.

The contract was awarded to Uhde Inventa-Fischer by Sasa Polyester Sanayi, one of the leading manufacturers of PET (polyethylene terephthalate) textile fibres, filament yarn and special polymers, said a statement from Thyssenkrupp.

The scope of work includes basic and detail engineering, the delivery of all necessary components, and technical services for erection, pre-commissioning and commissioning supervision.

Both new plants are among the largest single-line production plants for their respective products, it added.

As per the deal, the first plant will produce 1,050 tonnes per day (380,000 tonnes per year) of PET  for low-viscosity applications, while the second one will use Uhde Inventa-Fischer’s proprietary patented MTR technology to produce 216,000 tonnes per year of resin for the production of PET bottles, said a senior official.

Uhde Inventa-Fischer CEO Werner Steinauer said: "We are very proud that Sasa chose us to build another two state-of-the art PET plants after we were already contracted to build one of the largest polyester lines last year."

"Our commercially tried-and-tested MTR process provides our customers with optimised energy consumption, maximum utilisation of feedstocks and effective plant operation, thus significantly reducing the total conversion cost compared with conventional technologies," he added.-TradeArabia News Service
