Vamed Engineering to build Oman hospital

MUSCAT, December 19, 2017

Austria-based Vamed Engineering, a specialist in the construction of multi-dimensional models of healthcare institutions, has won the turnkey contract for a one-of-a-kind spinal injuries hospital and rehabilitation centre in the Sohar region of Oman.

The contract for the Sohar Specialised Hospital and Rehabilitation Centre was awarded by Murtadha Al Jamalani, one of the founders and investors of the project with whom a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was earlier entered into by the local and international investors, reported Oman Observer.

The project will be developed by the Omani branch of Vamed Engineering on a design-build-operate basis, it stated.

Murtadha Al Jamalani and Oman Education and Training Investment Holding Company and Murtadha Business Solutions had in 2015, signed an MoU to develop a specialist centre for spinal injuries and rehabilitation.

“We have seen many patients from the GCC and Mena region frequently travel abroad for medical
treatment either to Europe, the US, India or Thailand for want of a high quality medical service and treatment facilities that the patients cannot get in their own countries for one reason or another,”
remarked Al Jamalani.

“This is the scenario where we want to enter with a super-specialty centre for spinal cord surgeries and rehabilitation services,” he added.
