Bahrain starts handover of new housing units

MANAMA, June 24, 2018

Bahrain's housing ministry has started distributing the keys of the residential units built in the Phase One of the Salman Town project to beneficiaries, said a report.

The move follows the order of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, to distribute 5,000 housing units, within the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to meet the citizens’ needs marking Ramadan, and in line with the ongoing efforts of the government, led by HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, to continue implementing its action plan, reported BNA.

Housing Minister Bassim bin Yaqoob Al Hamar said the handover of the housing units to beneficiaries follows the completion of the contracts’ signing procedures.

With this move, the actual operation of the new town has started following its official opening by His Majesty last month during a ceremony in which HM the King named it as Salman Town after HRH the Crown Prince.

The minister said the East Hidd Town and Al Ramli Suburb housing projects will start later this year.

"The remarkable progress witnessed by social housing in the kingdom is a realistic translation of HM the King’s directives to build 40,000 housing units, from which the government’s commitment to constructing 25,000 units within its current action plan emanates," stated Al Hamar.

The Housing Ministry aims to complete the distribution of the allocated units by the end of August, he added.
