Saudi fire safety equipment market to grow by 5.6pc

The fire safety equipment and systems market in Saudi Arabia will witness a remarkable growth of 5.6 per cent during the next five years, according to an industrial report discussed during the Saudi International Oil Fire Safety Conference (OFSAC) 2019.

The three-day event kicked off on September 16, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Riyadh.

The report, which was published by one of the international consultant partners, also revealed that oil fire incidents will fall by 11 per cent due to the investment of $4.5 billion in oil fire training, engineering, technology and production of materials to control the risks of oil fires.

High Commission for Industrial Security (HCIS) secretary general Brigadier General Mohammed bin Ali Al Habdan said that Saudi Arabia operates according to international standards to reduce oil fires accidents and is considered to have one of the best statistics in the Middle East and among Opec countries.

The event brings together four distinct industries in the field of fire safety, namely, oil, gas, petrochemicals and fossil fuel power generation, with the objective of encouraging conversations among decision makers from these sectors, introducing the latest innovations and solutions and discussing the latest developments in the field of fire safety.

Additionally, the conference also aims to highlight challenges and innovative solutions, and facilitating the transferring of practical knowledge in the field of fire prevention, sharing experiences and best practices, raising awareness about the growing fire accidents in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries worldwide, and evaluating fire safety standards and regulations in the related fields, enhancing capacity-building and exchanging of experiences in preparedness and fire prevention areas.

Six specialised training programmes will be held during the conference to fill the training gap in the field of fire safety, and to provide practical and applicable solutions that will contribute to raising the level of the participants’ practical efficiency, said the organisers.

The training programmes will also provide insights and solutions to meet the various challenges in the field of fire hazard, and enhance the skills and experience of participants in fire prevention and preparedness and disaster management.

The conference sessions include: “Prevention and Response to Fire Disasters and Explosions in Oil and Gas Exploration and Production field”, "Exchange of Fire Safety Experiences in Refineries and Power Stations", "Fire Fighting, Preparedness and Management of Fire Disasters in Petrochemical Industries", "Fire Safety Challenges in Gas and Fuel Stations", "Protection of gas and oil power plants (fossil fuels)", and finally, "combating fire disasters in fuel and gas stations".

The event is being held under the patronage of Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and chairman of HCIS and organised by the General Secretariat of the High Authority for Industrial Security.

The conference is being attended by leading decision makers, health and safety and environmental managers in oil companies along with senior security and safety officials, professionals, prevention experts, fire management, researchers and academics from across the world. – TradeArabia News Service
