Alstom, a multinational company that develops and markets systems, equipment and services for the transport sector, has recruited two of Ajman University students after they successfully completed a special railway system training programme in Dubai.

This comes following an agreement signed by Alstom and Ajman University in February to provide technical training for AU students and develop their expertise in the railway industry, said a statement from Alstom.  

This training, which included theoretical education, group exercises, site visits, videos and exams, led to offering a couple of job opportunities to AU students to become part of Alstom team in Dubai, it stated.

On the recruitment, Alstom Middle East MD Vincent Prou said: "Alstom is extremely proud of the partnership with Ajman University. We have seen the great results of this collaboration with the arrival of the newly-recruited students who are now part of our team in Dubai."

"This demonstrates our commitment to empower local talents and to work with universities nationwide to prepare students to become leading experts in the railway industry," he stated.

Alstom is well established in the UAE with several key urban projects, including Dubai Tram, the first tramway in the GCC, and Metro Route 2020. It is also active in passenger transportation, signalling, systems and services.

AU Chancellor Dr. Karim Seghir said Ajman University spares no effort to develop students’ awareness in all walks of life, particularly timely issues as is the case with the railway industry.

Headquartered in France, Alstom has a major presence in over 60 countries and employs 36,300 people. It had recorded sales of €8.1 billion and booked orders of €12.1 billion in the 2018/19 fiscal year.-TradeArabia News Service
