Jeddah allocates $61m for waterfront revamp

JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia, July 12, 2020

Jeddah Governorate said that it is earmarking SR229 million ($61 million) to develop an area of over 180,000 sq m as part of a project to revamp a 2.8-km stretch of the city's waterfront, a media report said.

The project falls in line with the Kingdom Vision 2030 and Cities Humanization Initiative, aiming at improving living quality, in the governorate and raising the average per capita share, in terms of green spaces and parks' venues, reported Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

The development work is projected to take 30 months to complete, as it involves re-paving of roads, construction of pedestrian squares and cyclists' corridors in addition to new green spaces, planting of trees, construction of playgrounds, fountains, as well as sandy beaches for swimmers and investment sites.
