Arada awards infrastructure contract for $6.5bn project

SHARJAH, October 6, 2020

UAE-based developer Arada has awarded the infrastructure works contract for Phase Two of Aljada, a AED24-billion ($6.53 billion) mixed-use community coming up in the heart of New Sharjah.

Announcing the latest in a series of Aljada construction deal, the Sharjah developer said it has awarded the AED102-million infrastructure works contract to Al Marwan General Contracting Company, a well-known Sharjah-based contractor, for supporting a number of different communities within Aljada.

The scope of work includes provision of all the needed infrastructure, including the construction of power, water and communications networks, as well as landscape and road construction, for East Village, the student housing community Nest, the Sabis International School - Aljada, and the fourth phase of Aljada, which is due to launch for sales later this year.

According to Alrada, the construction will start immediately and is due to be completed in September next year.

Chairman Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi said: "We are continuing to focus heavily on our construction efforts in the second half of this year; in 2020 as a whole, we expect to award contracts worth more than AED1 billion in value."

“This infrastructure deal forms a critical part of our plan to bring a number of communities within Aljada to life, and we look forward to working with Al Marwan General Contracting Company to deliver an exceptional experience for residents and visitors alike,” he added.-TradeArabia News Service
