Metso Outotec announces key executive appointments

DUBAI, April 12, 2021

Metso Outotec, a mining engineering company headquartered in Finland, has announced two major appointments - Markku Teräsvasara as the new President (Minerals) and Sami Takaluoma as President (Services) - in its executive team with immediate effect. 
 
An industry veteran, Teräsvasara was earlier the president for services business area. He replaces Stephan Kirsch, who is leaving the organisation for personal reasons. In addition to being the President (Minerals), Teräsvasara will also continue as Deputy CEO of the company.
 
Takaluoma, who takes over as President (Services), was previously President, Consumables business area. 
Heikki Metsälä will now replace him. 
 
Previously Metsälä served as SVP, Mill & Chute lining business line in the consumables business area management team.
 
Lauding the appointments, President and CEO Pekka Vauramo said: "Both Markku and Sami have a strong track record from their previous roles, and I believe that under their leadership Metso Outotec’s integration will be completed successfully, and the Minerals and Services business areas will be further developed."
 
"At the same time, I am happy to welcome Heikki Metsälä to the Metso Outotec Executive Team. Heikki has extensive experience in our consumables business, and he has played an important role in its transformation into a successful, high value-adding business. I am confident that Heikki and the team will continue this development," he stated.
