Alstom names new managing director for Egypt
CAIRO, November 30, 2021
Alstom, a global leader in rail transport and sustainable mobility, has announced that Ramy Salah Eldeen Mohamed will take over the role of Managing Director of Egypt from Mohamed Khalil who will relocate to Saudi Arabia and lead Alstom’s business in the Kingdom at the end of this year.
Ramy has been the Customer Director for Egypt since 2012, managing Alstom’s business development efforts, tenders and projects in Egypt. He brings 20 years’ experience in sales, management and engineering to his new role.
Lauding the appointment, Andrew DeLeone, Africa-Middle East-Central Asia (AMECA) President, said: "Ramy’s intimate customer knowledge will help us build on our momentum in Egypt and ensure we remain engaged and attentive to our customer’s needs. Alstom currently employs approximately 500 people in Egypt with several ongoing projects including a consortium to design, implement, operate and maintain two Monorail lines connecting the New Capital City and 6th October City to Greater Cairo.
During the TransMEA Exhibition & Conference, Alstom signed a contract to supply 55 metropolis trains (495 cars) and an 8-year maintenance program for Cairo Line 1.
Additionally, Alstom and the Egyptian National Railways Authority (ENR) signed a framework agreement to modernize the Tanta – Zifta – Zagazig mainline, covering approximately 65 km including 9 main stations during the event. Alstom has been a partner to Egypt’s railways since 1971, supporting the railway infrastructure development in the country.-TradeArabia News Service
