Work completed on first 'resort for elderly' in Saudi Arabia

Saudi-based The Charitable Society for Honoring the Elderly (Ikram) has announced that work has been fully completed on a first-of-its-kind resort for the elderly located in the kingdom's Al Baha region.
 
The launch of Ikram National Resort, which coincides with the International Day of Older Persons (October 1), comes as part of the Saudi society’s efforts to improve the services for the elderly.
 
Spread over a 23,000 sq m area, the new facility, in its first phase, boasts a guest house, mosque, theatre for organising events and a health and sports club in additon to outdoor walkway, central restaurant, a library, pharmacy and clinics.
 
Announcing the work completion, Society Executive Director Abdul Rahman Abu Riah said the Ikram Resort would provide comprehensive health, social, and psychological care services for the elderly, based on the society’s belief in the importance of caring for the elderly and making available all sorts of services for them in the best possible manner.
 
The society's mission is to offer quality care to both elderly men and women through the government's various schemes in addition to providing accommodation for such people with the aim of bringing quality improvement in their lives, he added.-TradeArabia News Service
