Bahrain to pump $114m more into budget
Manama

The Bahrain Parliament has approved an urgent government request to pump BD43 million ($114 million) into the national budget.

The additional budget will be spent to cover increases to food subsidies, hiring unemployed university graduates at ministries and government organisations and to meet costs to cover a daily two-hour time-off of female mothers to breast feed.

However, for the government to receive the budget soon, the Shura Council will review it today and vote on it tomorrow.

Parliament and the Shura Council will be on a five-month summer break from Sunday until mid October.

The additional budget was approved by parliament's financial and economic affairs committee after receiving it from the Cabinet on Sunday.-TradeArabia News Service
