Premier business club launched in Bahrain

Manama, June 23, 2009

A premier private business club has been officially opened in Bahrain with a Gulf-wide focus, aiming to serve its members from Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Qatar with all their business and related social needs.

The Capital Club was opened by board of governors chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al Khalifa, who is Bahrain's Economic Development Board chief executive.

"The launch of the Capital Club in Bahrain, following on from the success of the Capital Club in Dubai is a key event for Bahrain's business and social community," said Guy Guillemard, chief executive officer and co-founder of Signature Clubs International, developers of the club and Capital Club Dubai.

The Capital Club, which is located on the top two floors (levels 51 and 52) of the East Tower, has already made its mark in Bahrain, having hosted high-profile speakers such as Abraaj Capital executive director Tom Speechley and former Costa Rican president and Spain-based Concordia 21 chief executive officer Jose Maria Figueres.

"Bahrain has one of the most diversified economies in the GCC and the Capital Club has played and will continue to play a major role in catering to this community," said Capital Club Bahrain general manager David Williamson.

To date, the club has 400 members and this is expected to increase steadily over the coming years.

Membership is by invitation only and aims to provide a superior networking platform, business entertainment, club events, privacy, security and the satisfaction and privilege of belonging to a world-class leading club.

The club offers an extensive range of facilities for members and their guests, including two different dining rooms, five luxuriously decorated private dining rooms, four meeting rooms, a video conference room, a library, and a members' bar.

In addition to providing its members with a "home-away-from-home" type of sanctuary, the Capital Club organises exclusive events for its members, spouses and guests.

Membership also comes with international privileges - as the Capital Club Bahrain is a member of International Associated Clubs, members have access to 250 associate clubs in over 50 countries around the world while on vacation or travelling for business.

The launch of the Capital Club Bahrain is said to be a milestone in the expansion of Signature Clubs International in the Middle East, North Africa and the Asian subcontinent, with the backing of its main shareholder Abraaj Capital.

Further openings are planned in strategic locations, including Abu Dhabi, Amman and Istanbul. – TradeArabia News Service
