OBG names new regional director for Gulf

Abu Dhabi, September 6, 2011

Oxford Business Group (OBG), a global publishing, research and consultancy firm, has promoted Michelle Solomon to the position of regional director for its operations across the Gulf.

Solomon, who spearheaded OBG’s four reports on Abu Dhabi in her former role as country director, will oversee the preparation and production of the group’s forthcoming publications for the region.

The reports are widely recognised among business leaders as breaking new ground for the level of accurate and up to date business intelligence they provide on emerging economies worldwide.

During her six years with OBG, Solomon has played a key role helping the Group expand its operations across the Gulf.

Solomon said she was delighted that her new role as regional director would bring an opportunity to continue monitoring Abu Dhabi’s progress in diversifying its economy away from hydrocarbons and relay the latest developments on the global platform.

“During my time in Abu Dhabi, I have closely followed the Emirate’s drive to boost the non-oil sectors’ contribution to economic growth and enhance its business-friendly environment as it seeks out new investment for its major projects,” Solomon said.

“It was a pleasure to meet the political and business leaders who are driving forward Abu Dhabi’s efforts to bring the private sector centre stage and I am delighted to be retaining my links with the Emirate as regional director,” she added.

Elizabeth Boissevain, OBG’s director of Field Operations, said that Solomon brought an in-depth understanding of the workings of the GCC economies to her new role, together with valuable networking skills.

“Michelle has been at the forefront of a number of our country reports for the Gulf at a time when the region’s economies are in the midst of change,” Boissevain said.

“Her recent spell in Abu Dhabi has given her a valuable insight into the progress that the Emirate is making in implementing its guiding framework for economic growth, the Economic Vision 2030. I know she will be keen to ensure that the latest exciting developments in the Emirate are captured in our forthcoming report as she moves into her new role,” she added. – TradeArabia News Service
