Alba backs inJAz Bahrain programme

Manama, September 24, 2011

Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) said it has donated BD163,550 ($433,842) towards sponsorship of inJAz Bahrain’s business ethics programme.

This is the third and final instalment of sponsorship towards inJAz Bahrain’s Business Ethics Programme, said a statement from Alba.

Alba’s sponsorship - spread across three equal annual instalments of BD54,517 ($144,607) - provided the key support for ensuring the success of inJAz program.

The donation highlights the company’s determination to support youth development activities, and in particular, initiatives that promote ethical values amongst Bahrain’s future business leaders.

Alba board chairman Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji presented the cheque to executive director of inJAz Bahrain, Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa at a ceremony held at  Mumtalakat office in presence of inJAz Bahrain deputy executive director Badria Naqi.

The goal of inJAz programme is it to prepare young Bahraini students for the professional world and foster ethical decision-making as students prepare themselves to enter the workforce.

Commenting on Alba’s support, Al Kooheji said: “Alba places a strong priority on transparency and sound corporate governance throughout the organisation. It is integral to the way we conduct business and in the way we relate to people within the company and outside."

"Our support for the inJAz program enables us to share these values with Bahrain’s youth, and thereby, play a role in impacting the way future business leaders conduct their operations," he remarked.

Alba’s employees have worked as volunteers in many of inJAz Bahrain’s activities, and have been closely involved in the implementation of the programme across schools in Bahrain, said the Alba statement.

Expressing her gratitude to Alba, Shaikha Hessa said, “InJAz Bahrain has been - since its inception -receiving various contributions from Alba ranging from provision of volunteers, financial and program funding."

"Alba’s sponsorship to business ethics for the last three years has enabled inJAz Bahrain to reach out to up to 2,249 students in all secondary schools, and that is a great achievement we really feel proud of,” she added.-TradeArabia News Service
