Bahrain to set up new export centre

Manama, November 1, 2011

The Bahrain Industry and Commerce Ministry will soon set up an exclusive export development centre for Bahrainis, said Minister Dr Hassan Fakhro while speaking on the sidelines of a graduation ceremony for young entrepreneurs.

The new Bahraini Export Development Centre will be established at a cost of between BD300,000 and BD500,000 ($795,618 and $1.32 million), our sister paper Akhbar Al Khaleej quoted the minister as saying.

Sixty aspiring entrepreneurs graduated from a special programme aimed at developing small and medium enterprises on Monday. The ceremony was held at the Elite Grande hotel in Seef.

The Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion, also known as the Bahrain Model, was organised by the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) in co-ordination with Bahrain Development Bank.

Its main objective was to help potential entrepreneurs and investors translate their ideas into commercial ventures, thus increasing investment and employment in Bahrain.-TradeArabia News Service
