Dubai SME hosts incubation services workshop

Dubai, November 16, 2011

Dubai SME, the agency of Department of Economic Development in Dubai mandated to develop the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) sector, organized an interactive workshop to introduce the services of its new incubation centre.

The workshop was held as part of a world-wide programme, ‘startup weekend,’ specializing in educating entrepreneurs and building business communities around the world.

Dubai SME said the incubation centre plays a vital role in helping entrepreneurs to translate their ideas into projects.

It also helps them evaluate the market response and face various entrepreneurial challenges, it added.

The participants at the workshop were divided into two categories - those entrepreneurs with IT, Engineering, or designing backgrounds and those with qualified skills such as management, marketing, finance, or law.

All the participants shared ideas, and formed teams based on those ideas and started building products and launching a startup business.

They discussed their projects' needs and how Dubai SME Incubation could play a pivotal role in providing opportunities for the entrepreneurs to test ideas and projects in the local market and help them understand their customers’ needs and how to fulfill it.

Abdul Baset Al Janahi, CEO of Dubai SME said the 'startup weekend' program has helped highlight the talent and creativity of young and promising entrepreneurs.

'The successful projects that emerged from the “Startup Weekend” will enjoy the business environment and services provided by the incubation centre,' he added.-TradeArabia News Service
